In 1968, at the ripe age of 14, Kirk was working summer jobs in refrigeration in Walla Walla while the rest of his schoolmates were just out picking berries. Although he toyed with the idea of a career in psychology, or perhaps engineering, or even gourmet cooking, Kirk inadvertently followed in his father's footsteps, and was building heat pumps from scratch well before they became mainstream. With a background in refrigeration, he was the missing piece in the heat pump puzzle for the heating and sheet metal guys back in the day.
A soft spoken man, Kirk only modestly admits to his 43 years in the trade, almost blushing in doing so. He's worked HVAC on the Peninsula for 30 years or so, starting Nash's Organic Produce out with their first cooling systems, among other things.
Kirk likes the interesting projects and the diverse bunch of colleagues he works with. Most of all, he enjoys meeting new people on the job, and hearing their stories, of which he has a surprisingly large and fascinating collection.
